Discovering the Past: Adult Summer Reading Genealogy Workshop
Family history came to life during this year’s Adult Summer Reading Program as Robeson County Public Libraries welcomed Desi L. Campbell of Harnett County for an engaging genealogy workshop.
An accomplished genealogist, local historian, author, and researcher, Campbell shared his expertise with patrons interested in discovering their family roots. Participants learned how to begin researching their family histories, explored valuable genealogy resources, and received practical tips for locating historical records and preserving family stories.
The workshop sparked curiosity and inspired attendees to continue exploring their own heritage long after the program concluded. Whether participants were just beginning their genealogy journey or had years of research experience, everyone left with new knowledge and a greater appreciation for the importance of preserving family history.
Robeson County Public Libraries is grateful to Desi L. Campbell for sharing his time and expertise as part of our Adult Summer Reading Program. Programs like this demonstrate that libraries are places where learning, discovery, and community connections continue well beyond the pages of a book.
If you are interested in researching your family’s history, visit Robeson County Public Libraries Genealogy Room for family histories, yearbooks, and other local records. Access is available during Lumberton library hours.
